This beautiful Smith Premier model 1 is the first in line of the famous Smith Premier Typewriter Company of Syracuse, New York. This is the one you are looking for! With the ornate nickel-plated side panels and Victorian columns. As early as 1889 this was one of the first double keyboard upstroke machines.

It is a massive typewriter that comes with its base and case. The typewriter is in display condition. Decals are all present and in good condition. Mechanically it doesn't work. Its serial number #20.038 means this is manufactured somewhere between 1889 and 1896 (when the model 2 was introduced. Overall a truly antique significant typewriter from the beginning of the typewriter era.
